Everyone is invited to attend the Philippine Collectors Forum meeting July 29, 2005.  It will being held in Room 3002, Level III, 1­6 PM during the American Numismatic Association Money show at the Moscone West Convention Center, San Francisco, California. Planned agenda:

1-1:05  Welcome and Administrative Remarks.

1:05-1:30  Neil Shafer will talk about the early days of collecting and researching Philippine coins, regular and guerilla currency.

1:30-2:00  A WWII Philippine Survivor of the Bataan Death March, Edilberto D. Vergara, who went on to become a guerilla during the war will talk about his experiences.

2:00-2:30  Ron Guth, Director of  PCGS¹s Numismatic Research Dept will present "An Insider¹s View of PCGS Grading".

2:30-2:45  Break--see Ron for grading opinion
on a coin you might bring.

2:45-3:00  John Grost will present the history of Charles A. Conant, the "Father" of the US/Philippine currency system.

3:00-3:30  Dr. Greg Pineda will speak on "Musings of a Philippine Collector".

3:30-4:00  David Provost will update his 2004 presentation "The Manila Mint and Its Contributions to the US-Philippine Coinage Series"

4:00-4:15 Presentation (tentative) by Ms. Daisy A. Navarro from the Philippine BSP Money Museum

4:15-5:00 Show and Tell as attendees talk about their favorite/unique item for a few minutes.

5:00-5:15 Door Prizes given away.

5:15-6:00  Informal discussions, trading & grading opinions by Ron.

Given the very large number of Philippine Collectors on the West Coast, it is expected to be the largest seminar of the show with up to 125 attendees. Plans are underway for a commemorative token/medal for the show. Premier Philippine Numismatist, Neil Shafer, has already agreed to talk at the show!

* I for one plan to attend this, as I would love to finally meet all the people mentioned on this site!
